(More customer reviews)Let me start off by saying I love this carseat. I bought the pink and brown version on clearance at KMART for $17.99 UNBELIEVABLE! I bought 2! I wish I had know that you can get a great car seat at a discounted price when I had my first baby. My 6 month old daughter is very comfortable in this seat. It is a large seat but we were able to fit it rear-facing in our 2001 Mercury Sable. I am very pleased with my purchase and am tempted to go back and buy more.. though I would have no use for them. The shoulder straps were not hard to adjust and in my opinion it is very simple to use. Great deal all around.

(More customer reviews)I am a first time father. Having spent many hours looking in stores and reading reviews on infant car seats, my wife and I chose this one. Here is why:

Pros - it's light, the base attachment is similar to most others
- it fits into shopping carts; the Graco swing and the Graco strollers
- it has a Winnie the Pooh cover, it also cost only $80 (or $140 in Canada)
- it has the same safety rating as all the rest etc.
- the seat can used in another car without the base and attaches nicely

Cons
- The seat belt safety clip is stored under the babies right thigh. (yes, we couldn't believe it either, so we bought some high impact foam to fix it so it was more even and soft)
- The straps tightens from the rear of the seat
- The chest harness is hard to open for a mans fingers because they are to small and for a woman's fingers because it is stiff
- The plastic shell is bulky and a little cheap feeling
- The handle is not well designed like that of the Baby Trend or Evenflo

My wife and I wondered why some many of the seats looked and felt so similar and seems to have many of the same problems. Interestingly we noticed that even though there appear to be many different brands to choose from, there are in fact only two or three different manufacturing parent companies and the brands are kept to create the impression that a healthy competitive market exist. If you take the cover off most seats and infant seats you will find most of the same plastic shells. For example Eddie Bauer, Maxi-Cosi, Quinny, Cosco, and Safety 1st are all produced by the Dorel Juvenile Group.

- The comfiest seat we found was the Chicco (and they have one that goes up to 30lbs like the Graco SafeSeat only half the weight), but it doesn't fit into a shopping cart or the Graco swing we liked. Chicco's strollers feel very solid too. Much more than Graco, Eveflo, etc.
- The easiest one to carry was the Baby Trend triangular handle, but it did not fit into things too well either and it was a little heavier.
- The more expensive brands like Peg Perego etc. have nice features but are similar to the Chicco and Baby Trend quality so the price is not justifiable.
- Evenflo has a great handle designed but their seats and strollers seem rather flimsy

As you can see from the pictures (but not from the product description), this less expensive Yellow and Orange version does not have the following two features:

1. an extra adjustable base to raise/lower the seat; and
2. the tray insert and cover.

We have both this Yellow/Orange one and the Blue/Green one and find that the extra features are not really necessary.Our kid actually uses the tray insert and cover as a toy.

For a 10 month old, we have the adjustable base at the highest setting on the Blue/Green one.With no additional base, she sits lower on the Yellow/Orange one, but we don't really find it to be an issue.

Otherwise, like others, we really like this product.Better than a highchair in my opinion, because you can easily wash the whole thing down when needed.And good to take to restaurants too.

ORIGINAL REVIEW:
I really love the idea of this gadget.We've used on several plane trips, and it's definitely easier and more practical than bringing the carseat AND a stroller.Many people have stopped us in the airport to check it out, and our son loves riding around in it.It has great polyurethane wheels that roll over just about anything with ease, and the telescoping handle can be made long enough for the tallest parent.It's light, easy to steer, and streamlined.Our Britax Marathon fits on it beautifully and attaches securely.

However, it needs a couple of major improvements to make it worth the effort and the price.First of all, there simply MUST be a way to attach and detach the device to/from the carseat more quickly.Currently, you must attach it by twisting two long screws into their guideholes.This takes WAY too long.On just one trip, we screwed the TravelMate onto the carseat in the parking lot, then unscrewed it in the security line, screwed it back on, unscrewed it on the plane, and then screwed it back on in the jetway.This means we spent WAY too much time screwing and unscrewing those very long screws.It's even harder when the kid is asleep in the carseat.There simply MUST be a method to snap the carseat securely onto the TravelMate without frantically twisting screws on and off.It's ridiculous.Until this company comes up with a better method for attaching the carseat to the TravelMate, I would not recommend purchasing it.

Secondly, the telescoping handle is great but it feels quite flimsy.I am pretty comfortable pulling my kid along behind me, but pushing him in front of me seems risky because it feels like I'm going to snap the rails of the handle.It would be worth the extra weight to strengthen the telescoping rails and make the handle more sturdy.

In summary, this is a great idea, but wait to buy it until the company comes up with a simple snap-in to replace the screw-in attachment.

(More customer reviews)My husband put this together by himself. He said it was supper easy to put together. Way easier than the ikea dresser I had him assemble. It looks even more beautiful in person than it did in the store. It is extremely sturdy looking. We bought it because we live in a 1br NYC apartment and it is extremely space efficient yet lasts longer than a mini crib (all the way to toddler bed and for extra $ junior bed). The only thing bad about this crib is the price! Oy! I really think it should come w/ at least the arch for hanging a mobile. It fits through doorways and rolls smoothly. I believe you can also take the wheels off if you don't like the look but we got it so we could easily wheel from the living room to bedroom and to take up less space in our bedroom. Its solid wood and made in the Netherlands. Also, note that this crib doesn't include the bassinet sizing and can't be purchased separately...unless you get lucky on craigslist. (More customer reviews)I bought a set of the pink bunnies when my daughter was two months old; she's now six months old and I am back to buy another set for our extra car seat.They install in 10 seconds or less and have withstood at least a dozen washes.They prevent the straps from cutting into my baby's neck and also provide head and neck support when she falls asleep.

An earlier review complained that they prevented the chest clip in a 5-point harness from being high enough, however we have used them in both our Graco carrier and our Evenflo triumph without any problems at all.Its recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics and the National Highway Safety Administration that the chest clip be child's armpit level. If the chest clip is too high, it can interfere with your child's breathing. If the chest clip is too low, your child can move an arm out of the shoulder strap and risk injury in a crash.The strap covers have always complied with this recommendation.

We love these strap covers and I don't know how we ever got by without them.

I use it under other items as well, between his visits. The pockets are very handy for keeping small items in reach. Only complaint is the strong unpleasant odor of the material when first out of the package. After airing out it was fine, but was necessary to let it air out in the garage for a couple of days prior to installing in the vehicle.

(More customer reviews)I bought this car seat almost a month ago and it's for spare car and is not used often.We decided to go for Evenflo since we already had one for our older baby and we were very happy with it.However, this car seat is not as good as the earlier one.The handles are to be just attached on top of the car seat and they come out very easily every time I take my baby out of the car seat.The same is true for the cup holder.It hardly stays in place.And the belt has the extra length right in front of the baby, so it keeps hanging on there and comes in the way whenever I have to harness my baby.Overall, it is an okay product.I would definitely not like it if I have to use it every-day.We did not return it just because it is in the spare car and we don't use it that often.

(More customer reviews)The main reason I started looking for a new car seat was to find one that waould support my daughter better because she is an "Instant Car Napper", from the second you pull out of the drive. Her other seat was just not supporting her head and the sides were not snug around her either. We went to Target and tried out all the seats and found this one in the Blue. I figured they had to have a pink one and that is when I found it on the internet here. We really like it. Adjusting the straps are a breeze and it is perfect if you have a napper like I do. The head supports come out a bit farther than regular seats do and there is so much cushioning, I am jealous! Two cup holders, 1 for a drink and one to put snacks in or for the other child sitting next to her to use it, are nice. Cover comes off good. By far the best out of about 8 car seats we have owned over the years through many kids. The latech system works great in the H3 Hummer that we have. The seats sits up a little higher than I would like in it, but she loves to be able to look out and round in it, so It works great for her. I recommend this seat over any of the others. To try it out before buying, they sell the basic baby blue one at Target. You can get the pink, blue, black or purple one online though, thru here or at [...]also. If you try them out first, YOU WILL SEE HOW BIG A DIFFERENCE THERE REALLY IS!

(More customer reviews)Our kids had outgrown their car seats and after checking with Consumer's Reports, we decided that this was the best booster seat for our kids.In addition to decent padding for them, the seats have cup/stuff holders on each side of the seat.This is important as some boosters have the holders only on one side, which is okay if you have one kid.But if you have two seats, you need to be able to open one on the left side and one on the right.The only reason it did not get 5 stars is that we thought the armrest would flip up (as in other brands) but it does not, making it a little more difficult for them to reach over to buckle themselves in.Otherwise we like the product very much.

(More customer reviews)We are committed to keeping our son rear facing as long as possible (for more information visit the Kyle David Miller Foundation online), so when he hit the 33lb rear facing limit on his Britax Marathon we were delighted to find the My Ride with its higher 40lb rear facing limit.The day after he weighed in at 33lbs we went and bought the My Ride and set about installing it and giving it a try.
We have a 2008 Chrysler Town & Country and were installing in the captains chair, an easy install with most seats thanks to the amount of room and availability of latch, but we were unable to get this seat installed firmly (with less than 1 inch movement at the head).Unlike the Britax, which has a latch strap and buckle for each side of the carseat, the My Ride has a single latch strap (with two buckles on it) that runs underneath the seat.This seemed like a good idea, except that no matter how hard we pulled to tighten the single strap the seat seemed to slide around on it--two points of attach and adjustment (on the seat) seems more secure than one.This loose fit is my biggest complaint, but not my only with regards to safety.We also found the harness difficult to tighten over our son (who is 33lbs) to an acceptable point.Safety is our number one concern, and no seat, no matter the safety rating, can be considered safe in your car if a successful install cannot be achieved, so we returned the seat after a few days trial.

Some additional thoughts, related more to quality than safety:like stated in another review, this is a bulky seat, from back to back, side to side, and top to bottom (seat height)--it was difficult for my son to climb into and out of.It also has a pretty steep recline, which is safe for rear facing, but I can't imagine my 50lb forward facing child wishing to remain reclining that far, so I fear that the seat would have become obsolete before the weight limit.The cover on this seat has no elastic on the sides, and every time my son pulled on one of the cup holders (the cup holders themselves are only loosely set into the seat, not latched or clicked in) the seat cover pulled off the arm of the seat as well.Lastly, the seat is very deep which means that there wasn't a lot of room for my son to cross his legs and it was hard for him to get comfortable, which was not a problem still rear facing in the Britax Marathon because it had low sides on the lower seat allowing more room for his legs.

Ultimately, the idea of this seat is an excellent one.Keeping your small child rear facing is the safest choice you can make, and this seat, for a low price, will allow you to do this, but a proper install and proper use are necessary for this to be true, and the My Ride, with its single latch strap, does not make this easy.Be sure to have a certified safety technician check the install (look online for local car seat safety check points in your area).If you cannot get a safe install with Graco don't give up--look at the Sunshine Kids Radian seats or Safety First Complete Air.Rear facing is safest.For more information and seat recommendations visit the Kyle David Miller Foundation online.

(More customer reviews)I had purchased two of these units from WalMart and had found a serious problem. Both units fail after adjusting the harness adjustment strap (pg. 8 of instruction book). The failure is this, after an adjustment is made, the harness release lever fails to cinch down tight enough on the harness adjustment strap to prevent slippage of the strap.I have made adjustments then placed my arm in the harness and pulled the harness adjustment strap loose enough to cause serious compromise to occupant safety. I have repeated this several times on both seats.Since contacting Consumers Reports, U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Dorel Juvenile Group (manufacturer of the seats) and National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Dorel Juvenile Group agreed to send me two more seats in exchange for the defective seats.I received the two replacement seats February 1, 2010.Upon inspection, I immediately noticed one of the two seats exhibits the same failure as the original two seats.I find this alarming as I now am experiencing 75% failure rate on a car seat model that is top rated.

(More customer reviews)This car seat is what I finally decided to keep after trying out the vantage safety first car seat that my son couldn't sleep in. This one reclines, does not have anything on the arm rest for him to pull off, installs easily.
It is a pretty big seat so if you plan to move it from car to car it might not be great for that. The cup holder is pretty sweet, it pulls out so he can reach it but can be pushed in to leave room for the middle seat. The side holders are too far under the seat to be useful for him but the still could hold stuff. The harness strap is amazing. No more undoing the strap and rethreading it to raise the height! Just pull a bar and the whole pillow and straps move up and down. Similar to how you move your car seat forward and backward with the bar under your seat.

(More customer reviews)I bought this booster seat in the grey colored fabric for my middle child. When we got it out of the box, and put it together, the overall look is nice, but has some flaws.

1. The back doesn't connect as sturdily as I would like. Seems to be a bit flimsy for a safety seat.

2. While you can use the sealt belt positioners on either side of the booster, it only has a cupholder on one side. This means if you put it on the drivers side, the cupholder doesn't have enough room to pull out in a lot of cars (including ours).

3. The width of this booster is 17 inches, which is a full inch wider than our other booster (a Graco TurboBooster). One inch may not sound like much, but makes a world of difference when you are trying to fit three children in the backseat of a Camry.

This Cosco booster does have very nice padding and the upholstery seems like it would be much easier to clean than our Graco one, which would be really nice. However, the width/cupholder issues are dealbreakers for us, so it will be going back to the store in exchange for a TurboBooster. Would be great for single child families - or even families with only two children- but not for three, unless you drive something with more seats than a 4 dr. sedan.

compact width wise.i have no doubt you can fit 3 car seats or 2 car seats and have an adult sit in a small to mid size vehicle without a problem. Diplomat is wider so with 1 diplomat in my wife's Toyota Rav 4 (small "SUV") 2 small 5'4" woman were cramped in the back seat with diplomat.And there's no way a person can sit in the back with 2 Diplomat, where as with XTSL it seems possible.

Holds an infant up to 45 lbs rear facing and 80 lbs foward facing so i know I can use it for a long time.(non-SL version- rear facing 35lbs vs 45lbs on -SL so get the SL)Britax has 35lbs rear facing weight limit.It is recommended that you keep the kids in rear facing for longer than recommended 1 year and 20lbs weight limit.My son's already 23 lbs in 9 months so it's good to know that I have that extra weight limit.

XTSL has bigger side impact cushion than the 80SL however Britax has a big side impact cushion.

Don't like about XTSL:
the car i bought this for does not have the latch so trying to install it correctly took awhile since the manual like most manuals has the jist of it but does not go into great details, so it took me a while to fiddle with it.The place to insert lapbelt was big small and me being a 6' guy with big hand had trouble inserting through the lapbelt hold and grab it from other side.My main car seat is Britax Diplomat is easier to install with lapbelt since you can lift the seat cushion and see where the lapbelt is going through.

Car seat is compact width-wise but not too compact lengthwise so it compromised some leg room in the front passenger seat.And I'm glad I installed it behind the front passenger seat since i'm 6' and would've made it cramped if i placed behind the driver's seat (if you're shorter or have the seat facing forward once baby reaches the age you probably won't have problem)Once again Britax Diplomat seems to be bit more compact lengthwise but Diplomat does take up more room widthwise.

XTSL's harness has to be unhooked and rehooked as the kid grows.Britax Diplomat carseats have this knob on the side that turns to raise and lower the shoulder seatbelt without detatching the harness.The other day I put him in the seat ready to buckle then realized that he grew and the shoulder belt is big low so I turned the know few times with him in it and presto.Very convineint.In addition the side impact cushion rises and lowers together with the twist of the harness knob so it is where the child's head is supposed to be compared to the XTSL which is stationary so if you place a infant right out of the hospital, I'm not sure the baby's head will beprotected by the side impact cushion where as once they get older it won't be a problem

XTSL seems to be twice heavy as the Diplomat which really isn't a problem for me since the seats won't be moving.Just an observation since they seem to be big on being able to carry it around with a strap.They do have airplane installation guide.

My son hasn't sat in the XTSL yet so that'll have to come later.My son hated his infant seat with the base, always trying to get out of the seat.He loves his Britax Diplomat.No fuss putting him in the seat and puttnig on the harness.

Britax Diplomat - $169.99 from amazon (some freak sale i happened upon)
Sunshine Kids Radiant XTSL - $239 from ebay (it's still new so i'm sure the price will drop later)Reason for buying it on ebay vs amazon.Love amazon but this vendor, Healthcheck Systems Inc., notified me over a week after a purchase of when the car seat was supposed to arrive to tell me that they did not receive the item and i won't get it for another month.Would've been nice if they told me before I purchased it that they are waiting on a shipment so i can decide based on that information.But it saved me $60 bucks and i got the XTSL model with bigger side impact cushion (Originally tried to purchase 80SL since it was cheaper.)

So beware of the vendor Healthcheck Systems Inc.Might sell you something that they don't have then you'll end up just wasting time.Good thing it was my spare carseat. If it was going to be my main carseat and they've wasted my time I'd be furious.

I'll see how much he likes the XTSL after this weekend when we have to take him to the hospital.I just realized that I haven't checked the shoulder harness height with my son.The twist knob would come handy in time like this.Quick observation:XTSL seems to have big wider butt room compared to the Diplomat so might be better once my son gets bigger.

Verdict for now:Using Britax Diplomat for now in the Main Car.Love it.My son loves it.Got a great deal on it.
Sunshine Kids Radiant XTSL - time will tell but for now seems like a great buy... got like $60 off MSRP.It'll probablyl become the main car seat once my son gets bigger and will be around longer with 80lbs max weight limit compared to Diplomat's 60lbs

(More customer reviews)This is a wonderful seat I, and my child, love.We traded out our Britax Marathon for it and she has no desire to go back!She is two and half and still rear faces in it.Plus:
High top slots, there are FIVE sets of harness slots at 10", 12", 14", 16", and 18".At 35" she is still on the second ones up from the bottom.

Tons of supportive padding, at the hips, head and the harness straps.The small pads on the harness pad do a great job of giving her just enough space with the pillow but still allow her to use it comfortably.And these all come out when your child is older.The belly pad is MUCH nicer than Britax's and ACTUALLY stays where it should!And the head support is supposed to be a bit floppy.Just pull it up from behind child before you buckle them.It take a second to position.Would you want a piece of dense foam beside your head or a soft pillow?

High shell back for older kids.My five year old at 47" can sit in this seat (not that little sis will let her).Her shoulders touch but she is not as squished as the marathon, surprising considering how much deeper the side wings are.
The Side Impact Protection.The side wings are SOO deep!I feel like my daughter is actually sitting in this seat not on it.Yes, I cannot see her well in it because of them.But I am comfortable knowing she is safely secure and a properly used car seat it SAFER than leaving her alone in her crib!
The fabric is SOFT.And doesn't cause sweating as bad as the marathon.

Some have said they have problems installing but I have had no issues so far, you will probably need a towel or pool noodle.
It does not tether rear facing but it doesn't NEED to.The high base acts as a rebound bar to keep the seat from slinging forward.

Others say the straps tangle.So far it hasn't been as bad as the Marathon and with these I don't have to untwist them through the "HUGS" pads as well.If you always grab the straps from the shoulder and work your way down you'll find you will have no problems.

The harness adjust wonderfully and tucks away under the velcro pocket so my daughter won't play with it.
I also love the color scheme better.We got the "blush" so it it girly with out being obnoxiously so and matches the vehicle's interior.

I could go on forever about how much I like this seat and I am glad I took all the reviews I read with a grain of salt because I am nothing but pleased with this seat.

Well, eyes can be very deceiving...it was so uncomfortable for him. The cushion is too thick and pushes the baby up too far in the car seat. The clip between the legs is short (made worse by all the cushion), so the buckles were poking into my baby's legs. Also, the belts that go around the legs are too tight. I read the reviews before I bought this, but I bought it anyway thinking I'd try it for myself because it might work for me. Don't make the same mistake I did. I took it back after my baby riding in it 3 times.

I bought it for my 4 month old and since the new law passed in Ohio I have to have all 3 of my kids in some type of seat. I have a 6 yr old, 3 yr old and a now 5 month old. All 3 can fit comfortably in the back of a honda civic now with proper restraints. This carseat is very well padded, my 5 month has taken a nap in it no problem on longer trips. It is very sturdy and you can tell it's very well made. Definitely worth the money if you have 3 kids and they all need seats! Cheaper than buying a new car!

the straps do constantly twist, when your concern is about babies safety, you don't want to spend fifteen minutes (potentially standing in the rain or snow) and untwist. Plus, for those of us who have a hard time adjusting these things, this one has to have an overhaul once baby gets to be a toddler. All the belts ahve to be moved and changed, and it's not easy at all.

We also have a Britax and although I love the ease of installation and ease of use with the Britax, the Radian XT has features that are more important to me! I love the low profile of the seat and how narrow it is. The Marathon would NOT fit between our two other seats, where the XT fits easily. I was worried that because the seat was more narrow, there wouldn't be enough room for the baby, but that was not the case. There is plenty of room and most importantly, the seat of the Radian is DEEP, allowing her to rearface comfortably for a lot longer than the shallow seat of the Britax. I LOVE the material! So much cooler than the Britax and a lot of other "plush" seats!
This seat is heavy, but it is made with steel, I would be shocked if it were light.It does fold up for travel and even comes with a carrying strap.
Whatever carseat you get, make sure it fits your car and your kid properly! THat is the only way you can ensure you have gotten the "safest seat"

(More customer reviews)We tried many car seats, and I'm resisting the urge to do a detailed review comparing each of the styles we tried. They each have pros & cons, including this one - latches, ease of installation, ease of adjustments, comfort for the child, style/design, etc.

But this seat is currently the only seat on the market that got the most consistent 5-star ratings from the National Highway Safety, and independent crash test ratings. You can verify that on your own (this is for 2009-2010).

So for me, that was 90% of my decision. I just want the safest seat - all the other concerns are secondary.

I will add that this one installs easiest of all the car seats we tried. I'll also add that we're very excited about the design (this one's very sleek), the color (chocolate &/or cappuccino go well with our vehicles, and classy/stylish), and I like all the padding and inserts that make it comfortable for our child. And I can definitely say this has higher quality parts that most others I've looked at - sturdier plastic, more metal, solid frame, etc.

But again, our decision was mostly based on the good ratings. Recent car seat laws put into place by the car seat manufacturers (in 17 states, and counting) actually make it MORE DIFFICULT to find high quality car seats. The requirement that you can only buy new &/or recently manufactured car seats prevented us from buying high quality car seats manufactured in 2005 or 2006.

So the amazing thing is, because of these so-called "child safety" laws, the safer car seats are no longer on the market, and it's illegal to buy them. (Yes, you can get a ticket, or even have your insurance suspended). The result is, these laws are driving the better car seat companies out of business - since car seats are no longer a long term investment, people are flooding to Walmarts and Targets to buy the cheaper seats, ALL of which are made in China by the way.

So in 1999 and 2000, there were over a dozen car seats that got 5-star crash test ratings. Today, this is the only one with a 5-star crash test rating. (Thank God we have these huge corporations to watch out for our best interests, and that there are conservative politicians around to take their money!...LOL). It used to be, for example, Britax made the highest quality seats. But now with these laws in place, they are outsourcing to China also.

Anyway, all of that said, your price point should be $150-180 for this. If you want the model with the best scores, make sure it's a "First Years" - True Fit Convertible. Today (January 2010) I see other colors available on Amazon for the right price, but the Chocolate color costs $399. That's insane - the only difference is the color.

So if this price doesn't correct itself, get a different color on Amazon, or search the internet. Very few retail stores carry this model (we couldn't find it in stock anywhere), but *everybody* is able to order it for you.

(More customer reviews)Just received this 2 days ago. First, I suspected it may have an older manufacture date based on the price being about $50 lower than the other MaxiCosi Priori's on Amazon. I was right. The manufacture date was Sept. 2008. Not a HUGE problem, since the expiration date on the seat is 2015, so I still have 5 years to use it. Both of my kids will have outgrown it by then, and even if we have a third child, I would probably want a newer seat by then since safety standards are always changing.
I chose this seat because my Jeep Grand Cherokee has fixed headrests in the back and so most other car seats sat too tall to fit properly on either side, and I needed to move the car seat from the middle position to make room for the infant carrier for my new baby. This seat fits very nicely. Tha material looks great and I will say, the seat bottom is much more cushiony than the Britax Marathon we had been using. The colors are very nice too, and I chose them because we live in the south, so I wanted light colors to help reflect some summer heat.
My son loves this seat so far. He says it's comfortable and he really likes that he has a cup holder. He's just over 2, but tall - 37 or 38 inches. I had to adjust the harness to the highest height, so I"m not sure how long this seat will really last, but it says it goes up to 43 inches in height, so hopefully a while longer until we get a different vehicle. But then I realized that I was just about to move the harness to the highest position in the Britax Marathon as well, so that's really no big deal.
The only real reason I gave this seat 4 stars instead of 5 is that I had such a hard time tightening it in the car. The lower latches only tighten on one side, meaning that you hook both sides, then pull on the one side to tighten both latches. I couldn't pull hard enough even when kneeling completely in the seat to keep it from moving more than 1 inch side to side. And the upper latch was also difficult for me to tighten. I needed my husband to sit in the seat and pull while I pushed the seat back tight into the car seat in order to get a fit I was happy with. Now the seat fits securely, with little to no give. However, I will definitely not be taking this seat out any time soon. It was WAY too hard to get in tight. I never had any trouble getting my previous car seat or the infant carrier in securely by myself.
Overall, I like this seat very much. The 4 position recline is terrific and super easy to use, the material seems good quality, the size is just right, and my son loves riding in it. The installation could be better if the lower latches tightened independently, but you can always take the seat to a police or fire station to have them check the installation and fit, so it's not anything to worry about.

(More customer reviews)I ordered this product for my in-laws to put under a booster seat they purchased for my son for when he visits.When they opened the seat protector, the black dye from top layer had bled onto the beige backing which is to be placed against the car's upholstery.We sent digital pictures of the problem directly to Munchkin's customer service dept. The problem was very easily visible in the photos but they requested that we return it so their Product Development Dept. could view the defect.Being a good citizen, I sent the seat protector back immedaitely and asked them to reimburse me for the postage.I got an e-mail from the customer service rep. telling me it's their policy not to issue a refund but, instead, they would send me an age appropriate toy for my child.The cheapest shipping had been more than half the price of the product.I couldn't believe it!After a few more e-mails eventually the customer service representative said a reimbursement for me had been approved by her supervisor but that was almost 3 weeks ago and I haven't received it.

After about 2 weeks, my in-laws finally received a replacement protector that had the EXACT SAME PROBLEM!!!!The customer service rep. assured us that the product had been inspected by their warehouse. The whole situation has honestly been a complete mess.

Please be aware of this problem and think twice about ordering this product espcially if you have light colored covering on your rear seats.

It seems to me that all the seats were decent, it boils down to a personal choice. We based our choice on features and safety.The seat appeals to me because of the height adjustment feature and its ability to grow with our child up until she only needs the booster alone. Our 3 year old had grown out of our Marathon but was not ready of course to be in a booster without at least a 3 point harness. I am, so far very pleased with the seat.The only complainst or comments I have are:The seat has a net like material on top of the microfiber on the seat..The netting gets caught on everything like velcro and snaps.It became ripped within the first week.I would rather have had the microfiber that is on the marathon (it does not appear that I can cut the netting out).Second, the seat is a little difficult to install.We went to the Fire Department as I had in the past and they had no idea how to install it seeing how its so new to the market. I called an install expert who came out to the house and installed it properly so we could see for ourselves how it should look.Third, the crotch buckle is really difficult to adjust, it took the expert and myself more than 15 minutes to get the buckle through the slot. Overall, I like the seat and would reccomend it.

(More customer reviews)The folding/travel feature is theoretically nice, but the seat is SO STINKING HEAVY that it's really no easier to carry than our (lighter) Britax we have in the other car.Chest clip and straps are exceptionally easy to use and not at all prone to tangling.Quite easy to install.And we didn't have the problem the PP mentioned, never had to call customer service fortunately.So it seems like a perfectly OK car seat, but the main reason we bought it was travel and it really doesn't have a particular advantage in that regard.We'll probably buy a "CARES" system and check our other carseat in the belly of the plane!

(More customer reviews)I just took my 16-month-old, 22-pound daughter on a plane trip with this seat and the whole trip was MUCH smoother than a previous trip on which I had taken her regular car seat.After a little practice it is pretty easy to convert from a stroller to a car seat and back while the baby is sitting it it, which is a lifesaver for the godawful painful process of getting through security.I could leave her strapped in the stroller until I had all my various items unpacked and on the belt, convert it to a seat, set it up and on the table, take her out, then slide the seat through with one hand; much better than having to hang on to her with one hand while I try to collapse and hoist a regular stroller onto the belt with the other.It steers very easily with one hand, and although it has hardly any basket, the accessory sack that you can buy separately is very roomy, handy, and lightweight, simple to stuff into a small suitcase.The stroller even rolled (snugly) down the Economy class aisles of both Airbus A320 and Boeing 757 planes.Once at our destination, it was a piece of cake to collapse the stroller and toss her into a taxi, strapping her in safely.This stroller is a must if your travel includes much time spent in taxis.

There were, however, three serious drawbacks which prevent me from giving it 5 stars.

- The telescoping handle is somewhat floppily connected to the body of the stroller.This is apparently supposed to be a "feature" as it is prominently labeled "FLEX-STEER (TM)" but the floppiness means -- as the owner's manual tells you -- that in order to get the stroller over an obstruction like a street curb, you cannot do the normal operation of leaning down on the handle to pop up the front wheels and lift them over the curb.Instead, you are instructed to turn the stroller around backward, lift up on the handle to lift the back wheels over the curb, then turn around and proceed.At least once on my trip I found myself crossing a street, and a car turned onto the street and started barreling toward me and I had to try to do this operation in a real hurry.Also both planes I traveled on had large gaps between the plane deck and the jetbridge; there's no room for turning the stroller around in that situation, the only option is to bodily lift the seat and baby with both hands and set it on to the deck.

- As other reviewers have noted, to convert it from stroller to seat and back you have to lift both baby and stroller into the air.This is not a huge deal, but every dang time I collapsed or reset the stroller, some protruding piece of plastic on the back of it created a new bruise on my right arm.By the end of the trip my arm looked like leopardskin, peppered with purple bruises.Good thing I wasn't expected to look pretty.

- When the seat is in the forward-facing position, the seatbelt crosses the front of the seat in a position that is pretty high up the seat.For my 16-month-old, the belt crossed the seat at mid-chest level, pinning her upper arms.If she were a thumbsucker, this would have been utterly unworkable.As it was, I couldn't keep the seatbelt on for the whole flight; she wouldn't have stood for it.Once she has grown a couple more inches, her shoulders will be far enough above the seat belt position that her arms will be able to lie comfortably over the seat belt, but until then, strapping her in to the plane or car is equivalent to strapping her arms to her sides.At least in a plane you get to unbuckle the seat belt occasionally; this seat will not work for her in a car until she grows more.

One other random "pro" to mention: I discovered while hanging around in the airport that, with the wheels deployed but the handle in its stored position, the Sit'n'Stroll has a sixth function, as a walker -- my daughter pushed it up and down and up and down and up and down the concourse (to the annoyance, I am sure, of many harried travelers), getting those little legs nice and tired out for the flight.

(More customer reviews)I purchased this carseat from Amazon.com and per usual it came quickly and fit the description perfectly.I loved the style, the features, and the fabric of this seat.However, after using it for 2 weeks I had to return it.The main issue was that when my daughter falls asleep in this carseat, her head flops around because there's no head support.Obviously this isn't comfortable for her, so she wakes up and cries every time I turn a corner or step on the brake.

As a note, my wife has a Deluxe Eddie Bauer High Back Booster Car Seat that does have a head support, so some of the models have them.This seat's head cushion stops my daughter's head from flopping sideways.I'll shop around for other seats, specifically looking at the Graco Nautilus, but if I don't like that, I'll probably buy what my wife has.I hope this helps.

(More customer reviews)We've tried our Signo G2 rear-facing in the center position in a Civic (compact), Prius (midsize), Frontier (4-door truck), and Murano (crossover SUV). Our 15 month old is 31" tall and 22 lbs; a bit smaller than "average."
CONS:
*He has no leg room in the rear-facing position in all of these vehicles; knees are always bent too much.
*Due to the huge base, the seat sits very high, so it's hard to get him in and out without hitting his head in the Prius. Couldn't even get him into the seat in a Civic.
*Belts get twisted (for my wife) and are hard to smooth out while trying to get him strapped in. After removing the child, straighten the belts and use the convenient belt-clip pockets.
*Need to place a rolled up towel under the base (per the manual) in an attempt to get more leg room, or create a safe angle.
*Hard to get more slack in the Latch belts when moving the seat from car to car.
PROS:
*Latch straps are permanently attached to bars on each side of the seat. You can't appreciate how convenient this is until you get frustrated with the stupid design on the Sunshine Kids Radian 65SL. But that's another review.
*Shoulder strap height is adjusted by turning knobs on the back of the seat. Also 100 times better than the Sunshine Kids' complicated system.
*I've read that it's the safest seat out there (German design?).
*Very plush and appears to be very comfortable. Much more padding and head protection than the Sunshine Kids.
*So snug, it feels like part of the vehicle. (Sunshine Kids has a little too much play).
*Easier to choose this model than going through the 20 or so Britax options. With Britax, every seat is missing something you need, until you get to the most expensive model. The Signo G2 seems to have everything that the most expensive Britax has. No "pick your options" games with Recaro.
*The huge base does keep all the belts neat and tidy (Sunshine Kids has belts hanging all over the place). This larger base also allows him to see out the windows.
ONE MORE PRO: If you don't think customer service has a place in a product review, skip this last one:
*Recaro's customer service is Excellent! I found a toll free # (not the one in their manual). There was no menu to navigate through, and the call was answered within 2 or 3 rings. We purchased the original Signo, there was a slight problem, they again answered the phone promptly and sent a new G2 immediately. Alternately, I emailed Sunshine Kids a relatively simple question; they never responded.

**Update, 1/20/10: I've increased my rating from 3 to 4 stars after seeing many other cheap plastic seats that seem to weigh about 5 lbs. The Recaro is heavy, sturdy and secure. Switching to forward-facing solved the "no legroom dilemma," but it's still hard to get him in and out in any vehicle since it sits so high. The belt system is awesome compared to the mangled web of belts on the Sunshine Kids, all of which are difficult to adjust.

I was excited to get it into our car, however that is where the trouble started.We have a 2006 Hyundai Sante Fe and for some reason this seat would not install securely into the car.I even got into the car, pushed my knee into the seat and pushed my back against the ceiling of the car to get the most leverage. I tightened the LATCH straps as tight as I possibly could. Despite my best efforts, it took only a mild pull on the base of the seat to make the bottom slide out a good 6 inches. The LATCH straps seem to attach to the seat back too high up to get the right leverage on the seat.Even still, it seemed like it was secure, as it was unable to move any more than this in any direction.As soon as we put her in the seat, my daughter hated it. She could not get comfortable no matter how we positioned her. She complained and complained until we finally went out and bought another seat for her. I took her to Babies R Us to try out some other seats and we decided on the Graco Nautilus 3 in 1 for only a little more money than this seat. It installed much more securely, it doesn't wiggle at all. Best of all my daughter loves it.

My son disliked his infant car seat, and would cry as soon as we would put him in it. Plus, his dad and I hated to use it too because the snaps between the legs were such a pain. This one is so easy to use, very comfortable, and my son loves it! The colors are adorable too. Jaiden will be 12 weeks in two days and we're all enjoying this carseat. The only issue we've had is that his head flops over when he sleeps and the head insert we bought doesn't fit because of the air system. My husband usually has to reach back and hold his head up, lol. Anyways, great car seat over all, would buy again.

The Marathon is one of 4 high-capacity convertible car seats that Britax currently sells.The others are the Britax Decathlon, Britax Boulevard, and Britax Advocate CS.The Marathon and Boulevard are also sold with CS (Click & Safe).From what I can tell, the Marathon and the Decathlon have smaller bases for installation in smaller vehicles.The Decathlon has an infant body pillow and multiple buckle positions, but otherwise, it is similar to the Marathon, including height and weight ratings.The Boulevard and Advocate CS are very large yet still have the same child size ratings, but incorporate what they call True Side Impact Protection.The Advocate is their most advanced, and expensive convertible, because it adds Side Impact Cushion Technology.

The Marathon CS is one of three Britax car seats that we actually own.We started with a Boulevard 2 years ago and recently got an Advocate CS and the Marathon CS.We installed the Marathon CS in our Jetta in a forward facing position for our toddler.The Marathon is smaller than the Boulevard and Advocate and it actually fit our Jetta quite well.It wasn't so tall as to block our rear view at all and the front seat could still be far back enough to be comfortable for adult passengers to ride in.The smaller size was the main reason we decided on the Marathon for our toddler.If we had more room, we probably would have gotten the Boulevard or Advocate, which are both in our larger, Toyota 4Runner.

The LATCH installation took me 5 minutes, no lie.I have some experience installing car seats and I watched the installation video and read the manual before installing so that may have sped up my install time.I recommend that new owners do the same.The push-button LATCH connectors are so easy to hook on and tighten that it was almost too easy and I got paranoid.I took the seat to our local police station for a car seat check and they gave it their blessing.

Our toddler really likes the Marathon and sits comfortably in the seat.The shoulder and belly pads help make it more comfortable.However, the police officer recommended that we remove them because they can hinder getting the correct harness tightness.The Click & Safe system is supposed to help alert you when the correct snugness has been reached, but from my experience, it's not really that useful.

The service life for Britax car seats are 6 years from the manufacturing date.I had to look this up on their website, which has a lot of useful information including installation videos and user guides.It would be nice to have the expiration date located right on the serial number sticker.Until recently, I wasn't aware that car seats even had an expiration date.The serial number can be hard to find on the car seat itself so be sure to make a copy of your registration card, which has all of the information on it.

For me, there are only two drawbacks to the Marathon.The first is that in order to adjust the harness height, you have to rethread it.This means that if you have it forward facing, you have to remove the seat to do it.The second, is the price.We could have easily bought two of the Consumer Reports Best Buy recommended Evenflo models for the price of one Marathon CS.We decided on the Britax anyways because of the number of safety features available along with our previous experience with Britax.The fact that the car seat technicians at the police station and AAA both said that they chose Britax car seats for their children, only reinforced our decision.

We are very happy with the Marathon CS.We feel confident that our toddler will be safe and comfortable in the Marathon and that it will easily last the full 6 years of service life.It is not the best value out there for sure, but that wasn't our number one priority.I can only justify the cost for ourselves and I certainly would not fault anyone for going with better value alternatives.

(More customer reviews)I am more than pleased with this purchase. i bought it for $150 from Walmart a week ago and it is my second car seat purchase. This seat is ultra safe. It gets great ratings on Consumer Reports in all areas, but especially crash safety and ease of use. It allows extended use of 5 point harness (up to 65 lbs vs. 40 lbs)and has four shoulder strap adjustments (I have never seen more than three!). The headrest can be set so high that a small adult could use it. Plus, the high back comes off to make it a backless booster!! This is the only booster I've seen with that feature under $200. The arm rests do not adjust, but they have cubbies inside them to keep crayons and wikki stix. One of my fav features is the cup holder that is built into the armrest b/c it is so super sturdy that it securely holds a very large full cup... and I can easily reach it from the driver's seat! and it does not stick out the side, which is inconvenient for other back passengers. My last rear-facing convertable car seat by Safety 1st was extremely difficult to adjust the harness ~ this one is EXTREMELY easy!! Also, the shoulder padding is not only removeable for cleaning, but it velcro's for super easy removal, and it has an additional pad on the crotch buckle. As I said, I cannot say enough great things about this car seat!!

I went through a carseat check and they said no such thing! Also, I love this carseat. My son is comfortable in it, and I like that he can be rear facing over a year because the safety standards recommend rear facing up to 30 pounds. I think it's easy to get him in and out. all around PERFECT!!!!!!!!!!!!

(More customer reviews)I have had no problem with this car seat with my child.It was easy to adjust the straps, and my child fit in the seat great.As another reviewer mentioned it does say to use a rolled up towel if the line on the car seat is not parallel with the ground (in rear facing position).This actually happens a lot with many car seats, and I actually found in my car that I did not have to do that.I use this as a second car seat and a traveling car seat.It can fit in the airplane and it is not that heavy like some of the other car seats are.I think for the price this is a good car seat, especially for grandma's car or for the airplane and traveling.

(More customer reviews)I've had this seat for my child for about 2 1/2 years now and it's great!The seat has the same type of padding as more expensive car seats.The head rest adjustment was a terrific feature for my much-taller-than-average child.The adjustable arms and cup holder were nice additions.The fabric has held up extremely well despite many washings and years of wear and tear.The belt adjustments are quick and easy.

I have another child now and will be buying this car seat again.The ONLY reason this seat does not get 5 stars is that it is difficult to remove the fabric.You must basically disassemble the entire seat to remove the fabric for washing.

This car seat sits rear facing until your child is big enough to face forward, which you just readjust it to forward facing.When your child gets even bigger you start removing some of the padding until you have a booster seat.

My baby is doing fine in it so far, she sits securely in the car seat without complaining.Buckling her up is simple and the latches are easy to adjust for different sizes.For instance the shoulder straps move up and down by pulling on them, you don't have to disassemble them and reinsert them in a new position.

Adjusting the chest harness is easy, just pull on the strap below, to loosen there's a button which releases it.

The car seat is very adjustable from the head rest to the base tilt.All levers and latches are clearly marked in RED and it fits vehicles of all ages. I have an older car so I don't use the Surelatch system which is for newer vehicles.

Overall I'm extremely impressed with the ease of installation and how fast you can convert it to a toddler seat and lastly a booster seat.

- Foldable seat - This is the key reason that we purchase this as opposed to buying another Britax Marathon.Once the seat is folded, it is about 7" thick.There are tabs on the frame to allow you to carry it with a strap (sold separately).
- Carry bag (sold separately) - We also purchased the bag/backpack to carry the seat onto planes.It fits the seat like a glove and can be converted from shoulder-carry to backpack.BTW, if you want to go minimalist, you can also unbuckle these straps and hook them onto the seat's frame.Very convenient.
- Steel frame - Although the Radian is slimmer than the Britax, it is still quite heavy (20 lb.) due to its steel frame.Since we only plan to lug the seat on infrequent plane trips, this was not much of an issue for us.
- Fabric - Suede feel, less velour-like, more fitted than Britax.Padding is about the same thickness as Britax but looks less as the suede fabric is more tailored (not as puffy).
- Seat Size - definitely a narrower seat (many board members have reported that you can fit 3 of these seats in the back seat).
- Comfort - My 3 year old son has not had any complaints about the seat.I did notice that the seat belts are a bit closer together when buckled and thus making the padded epaulettes (comes with the seat) essential to prevent seat belt burn on the neck.
- Chest Clips - They do feel a bit flimsier than Britax (has extra rubber pad (HUGS in their lingo)).
- Rear Facing - We are using it forward facing so we did not need to install the additional based for rear facing.I am annoyed that the car seat is not all in one piece but I suppose it lowers the weight for traveling for those who only need forward facing.
- Recline - There are only 2 options - recline or upright with very little recline.We chose the recline position and my son is comfortable napping in this position.It is also not overly reclined to prevent him checking out the road.
- Installation - Some people complained of installation problems.We used LATCH (forward facing) on our 2006 Mazda5 and did not have any problems with the installation.We have yet to try installing it with a seat belt.Overall, I think the Britax is easier to install with its clip locks for seat belt installation and versa tether to allow for front tethering options.However, if you plan to use LATCH forward facing, both the Britax and the Radian65 are equally easy to install.

CONCLUSION
The Radian65 is a very nice seat that is far more portable due to its folding seat than the Britax Marathon.I especially like its innovative portable features with the carry bag and the tabs on the seat for carrying it.This is a cool feature that I did not find in any other seat.

It is soft and comfortable, the height and weight requirements are great: We especially like that the rear-facing limit is extended to 35 lbs, as rear-facing is the safest way for a baby to ride, even after 1 yr and 20 lbs. We have a different fabric than the one pictured, and the entire cover comes off and is washable. The knobs on the sides to tighten the seats are terrific, makes for a perfect adjustment easily every time.
The only complaint is the cupholder- it is pretty flimsy. I like that is removable or you can fold it up, but I am surprised that is hasn't yet broken. Maybe it is stronger than it seems?
Overall this is a wonderful carseat, a great investment in our child's safety, and should take us all the way to a booster seat. I highly recommend this seat.

So here are the facts, Consumer Reports rated the Cosco Protex a best buy, however that model is discontinued.So then I found the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety had the most recent reviews, December 2009.They rated the Cosco Pronto a "Best Buy".Here is the article I encourage people to do their own research. Basically with the booster seat you are elevating the child so that a shoulder seat belt with come across a child's shoulder.They are designed for children 30lbs to 100lbs.Now that state laws require children to be in booster seats longer this is nice because we will not have to buy anymore seats now we have this one.

The Cosco is simple and my daughter cannot get out of our car's seat belt once I pull it out all the way and have it lock into place.In her car seat she would take the shoulder harness off, making it less safe.So the fact that this is simple, the cloth parts can be removed to be washed, and we are utilizing the seat belt of our car which is stronger than any carseat belts, I definitely recommend this booster seat.Plus you can buy 3 of these for the price of 1 of the other brands.

(More customer reviews)We got this seat to replace the Evenflo Titan 5, whose leg straps were too tight around our son's legs.I compared reviews and features of the Symphony with a number of other seats, and was initially very pleased with it.It was easy to install and seemed that it would serve us for a long time.My son (2 1/2, 36 inches, 28 pounds) also said initially that it was more comfortable than the Titan.

However, the first time we went on a trip longer than twenty minutes, he complained that something was hurting his neck.When I checked, I found that the red tab on the shoulder straps was cutting into the side of his neck.I wrapped some spare gloves around them, but they worked their way out in the course of ten minutes.Without them, the straps hurt him so much he started trying to wriggle his arms out of them; when I tightened them enough that he couldn't get his arm underneath, he started screaming that something was hurting his bottom.When I checked, I found that underneath the cushion the plastic X-shaped structure with a beam through the middle (securing the SureLatch straps in the FF position) could be clearly felt through the cushion.It actually left a reddened indentation on his bottom that turned into a bruise the next day.

We are returning this carseat, and I urge everyone to look carefully at the frame underneath the cushions of any seat you're considering.Carseats should not cut and bruise the children they're meant to protect.

(More customer reviews)First of all, I have not used this seat rearfacing ever. I purchased it once my daughter outgrew the seat that was part of a travel system. I love this carseat, and she does as well. I was recently rearended and pushed into another car (at high speed) and my daughter was ok, not a mark on her. I am going to buy her the same seat again now. The old one still looks perfecty fine (we've had it for 2 yrs) but after the wreck I am of course replacing it. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is that the latch system hooks on this model (which are the same for the Graco Nautilus) are just very basic hooks and one of them bent soon after we got the seat and is somewhat of a hassle to remove. So, for forward facing use in only one car, where you are not inteding to switch the seat out a lot, it's a great choice in my opinion. One more note: when I first bought the seat, I thought I could use the recline for making her more comfortable on long rides to sleep but it is not to be used forward facing, unless you need to recline it to level it correctly.

I bought this car seat a month ago so bear in mind that my experience with the longterm outcomes is limited. I have a 2 1/2 year old kid who is in the upper limit of a normal weight and height range for her age. I bought this car seat online and picked it up from fedex. It took me 5 minute to install it in my car which was easy and fun with LATCH system. Its head side supports are the most important feature of this seat and they really serve their purpose. When my kid wear her jacket and hat, room for her head becomes a bit tight but it is still comfortable and actually it is helpful when she falls asleep. 5-point harness is a great feature and I highly recommend to buy a seat with harness if your kid is under 4 years old. I will try to use the harness as long as I can. I have not used this seat as a booster yet but it seam it will be ok because the slots for car seat belts are well positioned. Its head support and harness level can be adjusted and easily but you have to do it before installing the seat because the releasing button is in the behind and unreachable when seat is tightly pressed to rear seats. you can tighten belts in the front and it is quick and easy. The quality of material is good and I really like the texture of the cloths. this product is one of the priciest car seats in the market. The average price for a descent car seat with most of the above features is around 120- 170 but if you consider buying a safe car seat with high quality I think it worths to spend more. Overall, I am very happy for choosing this car seat and I give these scores (out of 5):
1) Baby's Safety: 5
2) Baby's Comfort: 4 ( a bit tight head room)
3) easy of installation: 5
4) Adjustability: 5

Follow-up:

It's been 1 year since I wrote my review and my experience is still a good one. So far, no wear and tear and locks are still working good. Overall, I would say I am happy with my purchase but it is still a one year experience and considering how much I've paid for it, I am planning to use it much longer and I will keep you updated!

(More customer reviews)We bought two of these boosters for our 7 and 9 year olds. They love them and so do we. They fit the kids perfectly, they fit the car perfectly. They are very solidly built and seem like they should be twice as safe in a crash as your average car seat. The size adjusment is simple and wide ranging. The material on these is really nice. It seems nicer than the vivo lite so I'd suggest spending the few dollars more for the vivo.

I can only think of a couple reasons why these wouldn't be the best choice for anyone else. One is they are kind of heavy. So if you have to lug the booster around frequently for some reason you will get a workout. Two is the fact that they are quite the sporting design. Like I said they fit my kids great, but my kids are both skinny. If your kids are on the plump side they might find this booster a bit claustrophobic.

(More customer reviews)We just received this, so it's tough to say how it's going to work in the long run. We like the fact the fabric is smooth. Most convertible car seats are made with covers whose fabric has a nap, which makes them ridiculously hot and hard to clean -- and they have the generally obese appearance of a Lazy Boy recliner. This seems as if spills will be easy to clean up, and the color goes really well with the tan leather interior of our car. The strap and buckle system in this so far seems very easy to use and adjust. After owning a stroller/car seat combo from Cosco (which makes Safety 1st products), we'd actually vowed never to buy anything from the company again, as the stroller wheels were next to useless and the buckles and straps were a real bear to wrestle with. These straps adjust with an ingenious easy-to-reach button (to loosen) and a single strap to pull tight. Each side of the belt goes into the buckle separately (but both release with one click), so it's really easy to buckle him in when he's squirming -- none of that lining up the two buckle halves and then inserting simultaneously. Facing backwards, this thing is big. If it were any bigger, I wouldn't be able to drive with the my seat in a comfortable position for me -- and I'm just 5'10". But we have only a few more months of him facing backwards. All in all, we're pleased so far, but the real test comes in the day-to-day ease of use, ease of clean-up, and in our little guy's comfort level.

(More customer reviews)My daughter is 16 months old.She is already 32 pounds and 34 inches tall.I really want to keep her rear-facing as long as possible, so I was in the market to buy a new car seat when I came across this one.I am very impressed with it so far.She previously rode in a Evenflo Triumph Advance, which was extremely wide and took up most of the back seat, even when it was placed in the middle.This seat is very narrow and provides her with much more leg room when rear-facing.It has a nice low profile, which makes it much easier for me to get her in and out of the back middle seat in my civic.She seems very comfortable in it.I haven't been able to use the "superlatch" feature because my car was manufactured prior to September 2005, so I installed the seat with the seatbelt and it honestly couldn't have been easier.It is in VERY securely too.I am confident that this seat is as safe as any seat could possibly be in my car.I know that people have reviewed other Radians in the past and seen it as a "negative" that the seat is so heavy, but I don't have a problem with it...of course it is heavy, it's a steel frame!Besides, the fact that it weighs 23 pounds is not hidden in the description of the product, so no one should be taken by surprise.It is a very big seat.My only "con" really, is that I had to move my front seats up to fit it in the back of the civic.I can still fit in the driver's seat with no problem, but I'm closer to the steering wheel than I'd like to be.The trade-off, though, is that my daughter has so much more leg room in the back, so it is worth it to me.I'm glad I made the purchase.

(More customer reviews)Saftey purpose I feel very confident. However the seat is very large and does not fit in some smaller models of cars. I have a Grand Prix it fits but can not sit exactly in angle as directions.
